What PDF metadata is
Every PDF can carry details about itself that you never see on the page: a title, the author's name, a subject, keywords, the app that made it ("Microsoft Word", "Tally", a scanner app), the tool that turned it into a PDF, and the dates it was created and last changed. Many files also hide a second copy of the same facts in an XMP record, which most readers trust over the first.
Why it matters
Open a salary slip, a resume or a scanned ID card in a PDF reader's Properties and you may find a colleague's name, your company's software, or a date that contradicts what you wrote in a form. When a file goes to an employer, a landlord, a court or a stranger on a marketplace, those details go with it.
How it works
Drop the PDF. Every detail is shown in plain boxes — change any of them, clear the ones you don't want, or press Remove all metadata. The new copy builds itself as you type; press Download to save it. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account and there is no daily limit.
What "Remove all" removes
- Title, author, subject, keywords, the app and the PDF maker
- The created and last-changed dates
- Custom details some apps add, like a company name
- Every XMP record — for the whole document, its pages and its images
- Leftover copies of old details from earlier saves, which ordinary editors keep inside the file
What stays the same
Pages, text, images, links and form fields are untouched — only the details about the file change. Text stays selectable and the page count is the same.
Good to know
- The title is what a browser tab and a PDF reader show as the document's name. It is not the file name.
- A PDF with a password must be opened first with Unlock PDF.
- Hindi and other scripts work in every box.
- Photos carry their own hidden details, like location and phone model; Convert Image removes those from pictures.

Questions people ask
How do I remove the author name from a PDF?
Drop the PDF, clear the Author box or press Remove all metadata, and download the new copy. The name is removed from the file, including the hidden XMP copy.
Does removing metadata change my document?
No. Pages, text, images and form fields stay exactly as they were. Only the details about the file are changed or removed.
Why do some readers still show the old title after I change it elsewhere?
Many PDFs keep a second, hidden copy of the title in an XMP record, and readers prefer it. This tool removes that copy whenever you change a detail, so every reader shows your new title.
Can I change the date a PDF was created?
Dates can't be typed in here, but Remove all metadata deletes both the created and the last-changed dates, so the file shows none.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and rewritten on your own phone or computer, and nothing is sent to us or anyone else.
