Scan documents to PDF with your camera

Point the camera at a page — straightened, cleaned, one PDF. Nothing uploads.

Scan a document

Point the camera at the page, or pick photos — JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC up to 50 MB each · Scans never leave your device.

How it works

Tap Scan with camera and point your phone at the page — or pick photos you already have, including WhatsApp forwards and iPhone HEIC. The scanner finds the four corners of the page, straightens the photo as if it had been laid flat on scanner glass, evens out shadows and lighting, and adds the page to your PDF. Scan the next page, reorder, retake a blurry one, then press Download. One PDF, ready for any portal.

If the corners are not found with confidence — white paper on a white table, a page running out of frame — the corner handles open automatically, already placed as a best guess. Drag each one to the edge of the paper; a loupe magnifies the exact spot under your finger. Adjusting corners is always one tap away on any page.

Nothing leaves your phone

This document scanner runs entirely inside your browser. The photo of your Aadhaar card, marksheet, bank passbook or signed form is processed by code running on your own device, and the PDF is written straight to your downloads. There is no upload, no account, no cloud copy and no watermark — in any mode, on every page. After one visit the page works offline, so it scans on a train or in a queue with no signal.

A Microsoft Lens alternative, without an app

Microsoft Lens was withdrawn from the app stores in 2026 and its scanning stopped working soon after. CamScanner stamps a watermark on free scans and fills the screen with ads; Adobe Scan asks you to sign in and keeps scans in its cloud. If you only want what Lens did well — point, straighten, enhance, save as PDF — this page does exactly that from a browser tab, with no install and no sign-in. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app.

Enhance modes

  • Colour keeps stamps, seals and coloured ink while flattening shadows — the default.
  • Grayscale for plain printed text, with smaller files.
  • Black & white turns a page into crisp ink on white paper, like a photocopy, using a local threshold that copes with uneven light.
  • Original leaves the photo untouched after straightening.

Change the mode at any time; every page is redone without rescanning.

Pages, size and what comes next

Pages land on A4 by default — the format Indian portals, colleges and print shops expect. Choose "Same size as each scan" if the page must match the paper. Up to 25 pages make one PDF. If a portal caps uploads at 1 or 2 MB, send the result to Compress PDF; the download card offers it as the next step. Already have flat, well-lit photos that only need to become a PDF? JPG to PDF does that without the scanner's corner detection and enhancement.

Tips for a clean scan

  • Put the page on a darker surface — a table, a folder, a bedsheet — so its edges stand out.
  • Shoot from directly above in daylight and keep your own shadow off the paper.
  • Fill the frame, but keep all four corners inside it.
  • Retake a blurry page before downloading; no enhancement brings back lost sharpness.

Questions people ask

Is this document scanner really free?

Yes. Every enhance mode, every page and every download is free, with no sign-up, no page limit and no watermark. There is no premium tier holding anything back.

Do my scans get uploaded anywhere?

No. Corner detection, straightening and enhancement run in your browser on your own device, and the PDF is saved straight to your downloads. We never see your documents.

Can I use this instead of Microsoft Lens?

Yes. Lens was discontinued in 2026; this page covers the same job — camera, auto-straighten, enhance, save as PDF — with no app to install. Add it to your home screen for one-tap access.

What if the corners are detected wrongly?

Tap the page to open the corner handles and drag each one to the edge of the paper; a loupe shows the exact spot. When the scanner is not confident, it opens the handles for you automatically.

Does it work on iPhone and Android without an app?

Yes. It runs in Safari and Chrome on any phone — including HEIC photos from an iPhone — and keeps working offline after the first visit.
