How it works
Drop a photo of a person, or take one. A small model that recognises people runs inside your browser, finds you in the picture and removes everything else. Choose a transparent background, plain white, light blue or any colour you like, and press Download. The first time, the photo tools download once (about 4 MB) and are then kept by your browser, so the next photo is quick even offline. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account and there is no watermark.
What it is good at — and what it isn't
The model behind this tool is trained to find people: a face with hair, neck and shoulders, a half-body selfie, a group standing together. That covers most of what people in India need a background removed for — profile pictures, resumes, ID-card and visiting-card photos, college and office forms. It is not trained on products, pets, cars or logos, so we do not promise those; if there is no person in the photo the tool says so plainly instead of handing you a blank image.
Transparent or a colour
- Transparent saves a PNG with no background at all. Drop it onto slides, posters, WhatsApp stickers or a design app and only you appear.
- White and light blue are the colours studios use for ID and passport-style photos. These save as JPG, which forms accept most often.
- Your colour lets you pick any shade, for a team page or a matching banner.
Edges
Soft keeps the fine edges of hair natural, which suits portraits. Crisp gives a clean cut-out edge, which suits stickers and logos made from a photo. Switching between them is instant — the photo is not analysed again.
For exam forms
If the photo is for SSC, UPSC, IBPS, NEET, a passport or PAN, use the Exam Photo Maker instead. It removes the background too, and also sets the exact pixel size, KB limit and face position the notification asks for.

How do I remove the background from my photo for free?

Does it work on product photos?
Not reliably. The model is trained to find people, so it is made for portraits, selfies and group photos. If no person is found, the tool tells you instead of returning a blank image.
How do I get a white background for an ID photo?
Drop the photo and choose White. The result is a JPG with a clean white background. For exam forms with exact pixel and KB rules, use the Exam Photo Maker, which also sizes the photo.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The person-finding model is downloaded once to your browser and runs on your device. Your photo never leaves it.
Why is the file a PNG?
A transparent background needs PNG, because JPG cannot store transparency. Choose White, Light blue or Your colour and the result is saved as a smaller JPG instead.
