A generous limit — so don't over-compress

500 KB is a roomy cap. You'll see it on visa and passport-related uploads, insurance claims, property and marketplace listings, and portals that want a photographed document such as an Aadhaar card, marksheet or bill. The goal here is not to squeeze hard; it is to bring a 3–8 MB phone photo down to size while it looks the same. Drop your photos above with 500 KB already set.

Keep documents readable

When the photo is of a document, readability is the point. With 500 KB to spend we keep plenty of pixels, so small print, stamps and signatures stay legible. We reduce pixels only as far as the limit needs and keep JPG quality high. Avoid tools that crush a photo to 50 KB "just to be safe" — a reviewer who can't read your ID number will reject it regardless of the file size.

iPhone photos and other formats

iPhones save photos as HEIC, which many websites refuse. Drop the HEIC straight in: the result is a standard JPG under 500 KB that every portal accepts. PNG and WebP work too. If the form wants a different format rather than a smaller file, Convert Image changes JPG, PNG and HEIC formats without a size target.

Many photos at once

Listings and claims often need ten or twenty photos. Add them together — up to 50 in one go — and each is compressed to fit, with its before and after size shown. If the portal would rather have a single file, turn the photos into one PDF with Image to PDF and keep it under a limit with the PDF compressor.

Already under the limit?

Some photos, like screenshots or pictures sent over WhatsApp, are already under 500 KB. We tell you the photo already fits and leave the pixels alone, so you can download it unchanged or apply an exact size if the form asks for one.

Private and offline-friendly

Everything runs in your browser. Your documents and photos are never uploaded, and the location and camera details hidden inside phone photos are removed from the result. For tighter limits, see 200 KB or 100 KB.

Questions people ask

Will 500 KB make my photo look worse?

Almost never. With this much room we keep a high quality and only reduce pixels as far as needed, so the result looks the same on screen.

Can I compress iPhone HEIC photos to 500 KB?

Yes. Drop the HEIC file in and you get a standard JPG under 500 KB that websites accept.

Can I do many photos at once?

Yes, up to 50 at a time. Each one is compressed to fit and shows its own before and after size.

Is a photo of my Aadhaar card uploaded?

No. Compression happens in your browser on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
