How to compress

The limit for a small bundle of pages

300 KB shows up when a form wants several documents in one file: all your semester marksheets, a degree plus its provisional certificate, three months of salary slips, or an address proof with its back side. It is more than one page needs and less than a long scan wants. Drop the PDF above with 300 KB set and check the preview before you download.

Combine first, then compress

If your documents are separate files, the order matters. Put them together with Merge PDF first, then compress the merged file once to 300 KB. Compressing each file separately and merging afterwards usually overshoots, because you can't know how to split the budget in advance. Compressing once lets the whole 300 KB be shared across all pages, so a dense marksheet gets a bit more and a nearly blank page gets less.

How many pages fit

Rough guide for scanned pages: three to five pages sit comfortably under 300 KB at sharp, easy-to-read quality. Six to ten pages still work for clean printed scans, a little softer. Past that, you are better off with a 500 KB or 1 MB limit if the portal offers one. If a page is upside down or out of order, fix it with Organize PDF before compressing — a reviewer won't hunt for page two.

Digital PDFs may not need image redrawing

Salary slips and statements downloaded from a bank or payroll site are text, not pictures. Try Keep text selectable first: it re-saves the file while leaving text as text, and these PDFs often fit 300 KB without being redrawn at all. Scans need the default Make it under a size mode, which redraws pages as images at the best sharpness that fits.

Locked statements and privacy

Bank statements often arrive password-protected. Enter the password when asked; the compressed copy is saved without it, on your device only. Nothing in this process is uploaded — merging, organising and compressing all happen inside your browser.

Questions people ask

Should I compress each file before merging?

No. Merge first, then compress once. One compression can share the 300 KB across all pages; compressing each file separately usually ends up over the limit.

How many scanned pages fit in 300 KB?

Three to five pages stay sharp easily; six to ten clean printed pages usually still fit. Longer documents need a bigger limit.

My bank statement is password-protected. Does it work?

Yes. Enter the password when asked. The compressed copy is saved without it, and the password never leaves your device.

Which mode should I pick?

For PDFs made on a computer, try Keep text selectable first. For scans and phone photos, use Make it under a size.
