Room to breathe: 500 KB
500 KB is the limit where longer documents become possible: a complete application with annexures, a project report, a scanned agreement, a multi-page bank statement. Drop the PDF above with the 500 KB chip preselected, glance at the preview, download.
Two routes, picked for you
With half a megabyte of budget there are two honest ways to compress, and the right one depends on your file:
- Make it under a size redraws pages as images at the best sharpness that fits. It is the dependable route for scans and the only route that guarantees a hard limit.
- Keep text selectable re-saves the file and compresses the pictures inside it while leaving real text as text. On a PDF that came from Word or a billing system — mostly text with a logo or two — this often lands under 500 KB on its own, with links and copy-paste still working.
Try the default first; if you care about selectable text, switch modes and see whether the size still fits. The before/after sizes update as you change settings.
Long documents without the mush
A 30-page scan into 500 KB is roughly 16 KB a page — tight but often workable for clean scans. We spread the budget to keep every page readable, and if the target cannot be met at readable sharpness we say so plainly and give you the smallest readable file. For a loose limit, 1 MB gives scanned pages twice the room.
Private, offline-friendly, fast
The entire compression runs in your browser. Agreements, statements and reports never leave your device — there is no upload step at all, which also makes repeat runs with different settings instant.
Finishing the application
If this PDF is part of a government or exam application, the same portal probably wants a photo and signature at exact sizes. The Sarkari tools carry presets for IBPS, UPSC, NEET, SSC, Passport and PAN, and the upload checker verifies any file against those rules before you submit.
Questions people ask
Which mode should I use for a Word-made PDF?
Try "Keep text selectable" — text-based PDFs often fit under 500 KB with text and links intact. If it doesn’t fit, the size-target mode will.
How many scanned pages fit in 500 KB?
Clean scans: often 20–30 pages at readable sharpness. Dense or noisy scans fit fewer. The preview shows you exactly what you’ll get before downloading.
Does compressing change my PDF’s page size?
No — A4 stays A4. Only the data per page is reduced; dimensions and page count are unchanged.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The PDF is compressed inside your browser on your own device, and never uploaded.
